How a civilization checks its pulse.
Equitism does not steer toward a single target. It watches a few load-bearing variables and keeps each inside a survivable band. Every dial has its own scale and units, so each is read on its own terms.
On each dial, the colored arc shows that measure's own bands, the ticks show its units, and the needle is the current reading. Read a sign by which colored range its needle points into.
7 of 9 planetary boundaries transgressed, with ocean acidification the latest to cross.
About 1 in 12 live in extreme poverty; the top 10% take roughly 52% of global income.
About 30% say most people can be trusted, averaged across 30 countries.
Press freedom at a 25-year low; under 1% of people live where it is rated good.
About 2h 21m a day on social media per user.
Just 26% live in a democracy; 74% live under autocracy, only 7% in liberal democracies.
Only ~23% live where free expression is open or less restricted; 53% live in crisis.
Preparedness near the global average; AMR killed ~1.27M in 2019, projected ~1.91M a year by 2050.
No validated composite of civilizational health exists, so these eight are heterogeneous proxies on different scales and update cycles and cannot be summed into one score. The framework reads each as a band to hold rather than a number to maximize, and the honest reading is the weakest sign, because a civilization is only as survivable as its most breached vital sign. The thresholds shown are reasoned starting points, firmest for the established measures and more provisional for attention sovereignty and biological resilience. Each reading is dated and linked to its source below, and the whole panel is generated from a single data file, so any sign can be refreshed on its own cadence. Snapshot: June 2026.
